CHGPA members become sawyers

Five CHGPA club members participated in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests’ Volunteer Chainsaw Training this March. All five members received their Sawyer certification after successfully passing the course. The training had members spend two days over the weekend with the National Forest Service sawyers and firefights receiving instruction and techniques on proper chainsaw usage. The course was quite thorough with a mix of class and field training. Ben, Will, Erick, Mauricio, and Richard are now ready to assist with large tree clearing projects on Woodstock, Edith’s Gap, and the NPS sites.
